Behind the Image

It took about 3 1/2 hours to get to Kyoto from Tokyo. When I arrived I was blown away by the historic buildings, ancient temples, and some of the most breathtaking views I experienced while in Japan.

You can see the main city area of Kyoto off in the distance, which is where I spent most of my time until I made my way to Kiyomizu-dera, officially Otowa-san Kiyomizu-dera.

This buddhist temple is over 1,000 years old, being founded in 778. It was truly an honor to be able to walk these ancient grounds and this photograph brings me right back to that incredible day.
