Scenic Surroundings is a fine art photography print that takes the viewer to the mountain tops of Rishikesh, India. Mountains can be seen off into the distance surrounded by a blend of colorful leaves. Trees of all varieties adorned the mountains as the sun shined down below until the stars came out at night. This is a very special image of a very special place and time.

Behind the Image

Scenic Surroundings

Taken in Rishikesh, India, this scene was the view outside one of the places I was staying during my first stint in India. I couldn’t believe this was my daily view, but it was.

I had always wanted to go to India. While growing up I wished I could go, even for one day. When I was finally able to live out my dream I ended up staying six months the first time and three months the second for a total of nine months spent traveling across India.

While traveling across India you experience and see so much so quickly that it almost becomes hard to register it all as it’s happening to you. But this was one of those moments that I knew I’d want to hang on to and with this photograph I was able to do just that.

This was the first time in my life that I had ever seen mountains that seemingly went on forever. I was on a hike, and although it was quite high up, during most of it the path was surrounded by trees. When I came across this opening on the trail I knew I had to take a piece of this journey home with me and I’m glad I did.
