Behind the Image
Photographing wildlife can be a challenging endeavor, but subjects like these made it easy to capture this stunning scene. These birds moved slowly across the water and didn’t seem to mind my presence at all.
As I stood there watching them I felt as calm and easy going as these birds seem to have felt as well. It was a cloudy, cold day in winter when this shot was photographed, but I couldn’t pull myself away. I remember sitting in this spot admiring the beauty that surrounded me for quite some time.
One of my favorite things about photographing landscapes and wildlife is how peaceful it is to be in nature. It’s so incredibly quiet, the only sounds you can hear are the ones coming from the animals whose home you’re visiting and the sound of the wind rustling leaves in the trees.
This image takes me back to that place every time I look at it and I’m happy to revisit time and time again.
