Behind the Image
Because this image was shot with a longer exposure time, the famous digital screens that stay turned on 24/7 appear to be turned off. Photographed in Times Square, New York City, this long-exposure, infrared image gives a new look to a familiar scene.
By using a slow shutter speed and a tripod, the movement of the crowds of people created a ghost like effect and an otherworldly atmosphere. Using special infrared lenses and post-processing techniques helped to give this image a timeless feel.
